Anne Porteus, affectionately known to her family and friends as Annie, passed away on April 25, 2016, with her devoted family by her side. She was born Anna Theresa Cavanaugh on July 26, 1924 in Rhode Island to Maggie and Jack Cavanaugh. Anne lost her parents early in life and along with her sisters Mary and Sarah, she was raised by her aunt, Sarah McReynolds in New York City. Anne married Gerald Hayward Porteus in 1946 and enjoyed a long and happy marriage until his death in 2012. She is survived by her eight children, Gerald, Anne Marie, Thomas, Gregory, Christopher, James, Lisa and Geoffrey, her 24 grandchildren, 3 great granddaughters and her beloved sister, Sarah Sullivan. Anne lived her life with great spirit and was blessed with a large family and good friends. She will be remembered for her lively presence and strong sense of humor. She took great interest in the world around her. She was well read, she loved music and had a line of song to finish any sentence.
