Obituary of David J. Usher

David J. Usher, age 72, a lifelong resident of Hastings-on-Hudson passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. David was born February 19, 1944 in Yonkers, NY the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Hritz) Usher. He attended Hastings Schools and proudly served in the Army from 1965-1967 where he was stationed in Italy. Mr. Usher worked for the Hastings DPW and was a member of the Hastings Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Captain of Protection FD and Captain of the Hastings Ambulance Corp. He is survived by his brothers George (Helen), Edwin (Lorraine), sister Lottie Ann Forshaw (Edward) and numerous nieces and nephews, and also his devoted friend and caretaker Juan Baizan. He was predeceased by his brothers Kenneth and Robert. The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 6PM - 8PM at Hastings Funeral Home. Services will be held at St. Matthew's R.C. Church, on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hastings Ambulance Corp.
