Joseph Sansone, Jr. died peacefully on August 17, 2016 at the age of 94. He was born on April 2, 1922 to the late Bella and Joseph Sansone, Sr. On February 2, 1952, he married the love of his life, Rita, who predeceased him in 2005. The two resided in Yonkers for many years with their daughter Kathleen before moving to Valley Cottage, NY in 1985. After serving in the Army during WWII, Joe began working for the Yonkers Department of Parks and Recreation, eventually becoming commissioner before retiring in 1979. Joe loved his family, serving proudly as patriarch and always checking in with everyone and to make sure all was ok. He loved all kids and all dogs, spoiling them all equally. He watched horse racing everyday, always betting on the gray horses - and usually losing. He never got tired of watching sports and followed his favorite teams and athletes faithfully. He is survived by his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Sansone) and James Maimone, his granddaughter Shana Maimone and partner John Farrell, his grandson Marcus Maimone and wife Marisa and his great-granddaughter Sofia as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
