Lou was more than our beloved mailman in the Bronx Park East section of Pelham Parkway—he was a cherished part of our lives.
Lou didn’t "just" deliver mail; he delivered warmth, kindness, and an infectious good cheer that made everyone feel special. With his warm smile and gracious heart, Lou truly became part of our community’s fabric. He embodied dignity, respect, and the highest human values.
One of my fondest childhood memories is the day Lou revealed that he worked for the New York Yankees. He didn’t just share that exciting news—he invited me to a game, welcomed me near the dugout, and later gifted me baseballs autographed by Yankee players. It was a moment of pure magic, one that I have never forgotten.
As a child, I sometimes accompanied Lou on his rounds, and I was in awe of how beloved he was. He brought light to everyone he encountered. Lou’s presence in our lives was a gift, and his memory will always be a blessing.
To his dear family—may you be comforted in this time of loss and find strength in the love and admiration so many had for Lou. He will forever be in our hearts. He truly personified the spirit of "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night."
May his memory be a blessing.
