James R. "Irish" DeLucci, age 100, of Yonkers, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Born on October 15, 1924, in Yonkers to the late James and Catherine (Hanlin) DeLucci, James lived a remarkable life filled with love and service.
A proud veteran of World War II, James served his country with honor in the U.S. Army. His bravery and dedication during a pivotal time in history shaped the man he would become—a loving husband and devoted father. In 1949, he married the love of his life, Virginia Muscente. Together they shared 36 beautiful years before her passing in 1985.
James is survived by his beloved children: Kathleen and her husband Phil of Yonkers; and James and his wife Kristin of Toms River, NJ. He was a cherished grandfather to Philip (Rossana), Stacy, Cari, Juline, and James (Cait), as well as a proud great-grandfather to RJ, Ryan, Hector, Amaris, Ruby and Bella. Also surviving is his loving sister Rita Eaione and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his wife Virginia as well as siblings Benny, Margaret D, Ruth, Rose, Lorraine,,and Dottie.
A kind-hearted man known for his wit and charm—his friends fondly referred to him as "Irish"—James had an infectious zest for life that touched everyone around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to being a dedicated family man and veteran, "Irish" owned and operated J. DeLucci & Son Roofing for many years—the business became known throughout the community for its quality work.
In recognition of his service during WWII , he was honored at Yankee Stadium in 2017—a testament to both his contributions during the war era as well as enduring impact within our local community..
