It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Miguel Sequeira Lopez, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on December 14, 1941, in Chinandega, Nicaragua, Miguel lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to those around him.
Miguel is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Lopez; his sons: Miguel J. Lopez, Douglas E. Lopez, and Miguel Stauro; and his cherished daughters, Sandra Santiago and Elizet Lopez. He was also a proud grandfather, whose love for his family was immeasurable and who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Miguel was a man of strong faith, and his unwavering commitment to his church was a defining aspect of his life. His years of service at St. Peter's Church, where he was a Cursillista and served as usher for over 25 years, taught catechism and pre-baptism classes, left a lasting impression on the many parishioners whose lives he touched. He was admired for his eloquence, his patience, and his deep passion for sharing the teachings of the church with others.
Before his arrival in the United States, Miguel was a respected engineer in his native Nicaragua. His work and his ability to teach others were a testament to his skill and his dedication. He was always eager to lend a hand, and his teachings went far beyond the classroom. Miguel's wisdom, kindness, and calm demeanor made him a respected figure in his community.
Miguel's love for his family extended beyond his work. He cherished time spent with them, enjoying simple pleasures such as sharing meals together. He had a special fondness for dining at Cracker Barrel, where he would often bring his family to enjoy a good meal and great conversation. His love for food and the joy of gathering with those he loved was a central part of his life.
In his later years, Miguel became a driving instructor in New York, where he spent countless hours helping others learn the valuable skill of driving. His patience and dedication as an instructor were unmatched, and his students fondly remember his gentle approach and encouraging spirit. One of his proudest achievements was teaching an 80-year-old woman to drive, a testament to his compassion and ability to connect with people of all ages.
Miguel's legacy is one of love, patience, and selflessness. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched through his faith, his family, and his work. May he rest in peace, knowing that he made the world a better place for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
