William Senkiwsky Obituary

"Life is for the living.

Death is for the dead.

Let life be like music.

And death a note unsaid."

-Langston Hughes

William Senkiwsky, age 70, died on February 5, 2025, at the Beth Abraham Nursing Home in the Bronx. Born October 20, 1954 to the late Antin Senkiwsky and Olena (Macenko) Senkiwsky, he lived in Hastings-on-Hudson for most of his life. He is survived by his sister, Sonia Senkiwsky Giandomenico and her husband Edward, and his nephews Antin, Andrew, and Joe (and his wife, Marie) Giandomenico, all of Massachusetts.

Bill graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1972. A self-taught blues harmonica player, he composed over 900 original blues songs which he played at street corners, open mike nights and talent shows around New York. A host of health problems led to his placement at Beth Abraham in 2010, where he lived until his death. Bill will be remembered for his quick wit, his harmonica always within reach, and a joke for every occasion - the dirtier the better.

"I am ready to meet my maker. Whether my maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter." -Winston Churchill
