Obituary of Louis Cucuzza
Please share a memory of Louis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Louis M. Cucuzza Sr., who left us peacefully at the age of 86 on February 22, 2025, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.
Born in New York, NY on November 19, 1938, Louis spent his life making those around him feel like family. He was known for his warm sense of humor, always ready with a joke to bring a smile to anyone's face. He also had a deep love for his Italian heritage shown notably from the same Dean Martin ringtone he had for over 25 years.
Louis’s career spanned across many years and roles, but he is perhaps best remembered for his time as a dedicated mailman, followed by his legendary tenure as the clubhouse manager for both the New York Mets and the New York Yankees. His love for baseball, coupled with his unique ability to connect with people, made him a cherished figure in the world of baseball.
Above all, Louis was a family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan, with whom he shared a deep and enduring partnership for over 64 years. He leaves behind four children: JoAnn, Louis (Joanna), Robert and John (Cindy), five grandchildren: Joseph, Anthony (Katie), Kathryn, Michael and Danny, and one great-grandchild: Olivia, all of whom carry his spirit of warmth, love, and humor. His family was his pride and joy, and his legacy lives on through them.
Louis will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his unwavering devotion to his loved ones, and the light he brought into every room he entered. He was truly one of a kind, and his presence will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
