Obituary of Earl V Jones
Please share a memory of Earl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sorrow that my siblings and I announce the passing of our father, Earl V. Jones. Dad left us peacefully at the age of 89 on February 25, 2025. He leaves behind 3 daughters Denise, Lori, Joanne, a son James, daughter-in- law, Rosetta and 3 grandchildren Vincent, Andrew and Christopher. He is survived by his significant other of 27 years, Caren Saslona. He was predeceased by his half-brother, Robert.
Born in the Bronx on April 30, 1935 to Agnes Powaltz. He lived with his mother and stepfather, Frank until he enlisted in the artillery branch of the US Army from 1956 to 1958 then transferred to the US Army Reserves where he was honorably discharged in 1962.
In 1959 he married Mary Ann Santariello and moved into a small apartment on McLean Avenue in Yonkers, NY. He took a job with Morse Business Machines as a Technician. After the birth of their second child they purchased their first home in Yonkers, NY.
After 25 years he started his own company with 2 of his coworkers fixing business machines in Yonkers, NY.
In 1994 he lost his wife to cancer and several years later met Caren. Dad eventually retired and moved with Caren to Venice, Florida to live out a life long dream until we brought him back to NY to take care of him until his death.
Dad loved to watch the old time movies and the music of artist like Mario Alonso. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his talent for fixing anything and how he taught himself to add extensions to the house just by reading books. We will always remember how he bravely accepted his time was near and continued to joke with the hospital staff and those who came to visit him at the hospital.
May he rest in peace with those who have gone before him. Forever in our hearts
