Obituary of Jean C. Gannon

Jean Gannon, 84, passed away on March 1, 2025, in Yonkers, New York. Born on September 29, 1940, in Yonkers, she spent her life deeply connected to the community where she was raised. Jean dedicated 30 years of her career as a tax auditor for New York State, demonstrating diligence and commitment in her profession. Beyond her work, she found joy in cultivating her vegetable garden and tending to her flower beds. She had a passion for cross-stitching, family genealogy, and enjoyed watching Antiques Roadshow. Summers were especially cherished as she spent time in Cape Cod, Long Island, and Pennsylvania with her kids and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother to her children: Cathy & Peter Limmer of Rosebud, Texas; John & Rose Gannon of Yorktown Heights, New York; and Kevin Gannon of Yonkers, New York. Her love extended to her grandchildren—Melissa Limmer-Riola; Christie & Travis Spivey; Thomas & Amanda Limmer; Catherine & Lance Carr; and Shane Gannon—as well as her great-grandchildren Max & Margot Limmer, Ivy Limmer Sims, and one more soon to arrive. Jean was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen Medovich of Yonkers. To those who knew her best, she was more than a mother or grandmother—she was "Grandma Ginger," a woman whose warmth and encouragement left a lasting mark on those she loved. She overlooked faults with grace, nurtured dreams with unwavering support, and celebrated every success with pride. A visitation will be held on April 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sinatra Memorial Home, 499 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, NY 10705. A graveside service will follow on April 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale, NY 10530. Jean's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
