She was born on October 23, 1929 to Silvio and Fannie Di Paolo in Yonkers, New York, where she was raised and educated. Although she was born prematurely, and only 2 to 3 pounds at birth she was not left short of having a "golden heart ". Because of her tiny size she was known as little Mary. To her nieces and nephews, she was known as Mare Mare. She graduated from commerce high school in Yonkers New York and began to work for Otis elevator shortly after her graduation. Marie worked for Otis for over 25 years and only reason she stopped was because United Technologies took over and moved the company to Connecticut. She always looked at the bright side of everything and always said don't worry God will provide. Marie loved to go on trips with the Sacred Heart Monastery. Although Marie never married and had children, technically, she had more children than anyone I've ever known. She used to babysit for family members and friends that needed help from time to time. In fact, she has probably changed every one's diapers that lived on Vineyard Avenue. She also was like a mother to my daughter Amanda and will truly be missed by all of us who knew her.
