Luigi Florio, one of nine siblings, and a resident of Yonkers, NY for over 60 years passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025. He was born in Furore, Italy on April 13, 1935. He immigrated to America in 1953 along with his Mother and two of his Brothers. Luigi learned the art of baking and worked at Romano's on Hoffman &187th Street in the Bronx, NY. In the early 60's he moved on to DeLillo's Pastry Shop and became head baker; September of 1984 he became part owner. Baking was not his only talent, Luigi was an avid gardener, who loved nature to the fullest. He had a green thumb that yielded a plethora of fruits and vegetables throughout the backyard of his Yonkers home. He planted and maintained all types of green and flowering plants to fig trees, zucchini flowers and "cucuzza" you could use as a baseball bat ! Luigi was not a man of many words, he spoke from his heart and his bright brown eyes and radiant smile welcomed you with open arms. A soft spoken, affectionate man who enjoyed the company of others especially those who would join him for a food fest! His bronze glow radiated from within as his eyes and smile spoke a warm welcome to all those who entered the basement" doors ~ We need to bottle what he left behind because no suntan lotion will ever give you that "special" glow~~ it comes from Within !! Luigi , whether it was a glance, a smile, a conversation, a meal , an embrace you have been and will forever remain an inspiration ~~ Luigi Florio is survived by his siblings: Maria Florio, Salvatore Florio, Pasquale Florio and Dominick Florio and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved him He is predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Giuseppina, his siblings Anthony Florio, Antoinette Santullo, Onofrio Giuseppe Florio and Nicoletta Signore.
