Grace Lavaia passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2025, at the remarkable age of 102. Even she often marveled that she’d lived so long.

Born in Stigliano, Italy, Grace immigrated to America in 1929 and made her home in Yonkers, where she lived the rest of her life. She first shared her life with her beloved parents and sisters, and later with her great love, Rocco, whom she married in 1946.

Grace’s life was filled with laughter and love. She was always surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of devoted family and friends.

She was wise, kind, and endlessly generous — a woman who lived a life of acceptance and giving.

Grace was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
