Obituary of Antonia Sikoryak
Please share a memory of Antonia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Toni Sikoryak (Antonia Cheselka), beloved mother and grandmother, was born on January 27, 1948 in Czechoslovakia. At three years old, she emigrated to New York with her parents, Peter and Mary Cheselka. She grew up on East 236th St. in the Bronx and graduated from Evander Childs High School, before attending Baruch College. On August 10, 1968 she married John Sikoryak and they started a family in Brooklyn before moving to Yonkers, New York in 1973. There she raised three children and became a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren. While having a variety of successful careers in her life, she truly dedicated herself to her final position at Health Alliance Network where she worked happily for 25 years before she retired. Additionally, she was inspired by her relationship with God. Toni was a parishioner at St. Nicholas of Myra Carpatho Russian Greek Orthodox Catholic Church on East 10th St. in Manhattan.
After fighting numerous illnesses, Toni passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 25, 2025. She is remembered fondly for her happy and enthusiastic approach to life. She always found joy in spending time with her family and friends, and took excellent care of her husband, mother, children and grandchildren. They are grateful for the many wonderful and loving memories; things like crochet and sewing projects, baking, and holiday traditions. The handmade Christmas ornaments she would gift each of them every year were exceptionally special. Toni was a very active Baba (grandma) and led expeditions, including beach days or apple picking with all nine grandkids; she made everything look easy. Toni was also an eager traveler, enjoying new experiences whenever the opportunity arose. She made the most of her life, navigating her many responsibilities with grace, and always finding and sharing joy along the way.
Toni leaves behind her son John Sikoryak (wife Angela) and his three children Alexa, Nicole, and Eric; daughter Jennifer Roxas (husband Angelo) and her four children Tristin, Kaya, Lea, and Jake; and her son Peter and his two children Samantha and Victoria; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Toni will always be remembered for her love and dedication to her family. She was a blessing to them all.
