Obituary of Margaret Manno
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Immaculate "Margaret" Manno (née Tartaglione), lovingly known as Marge, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, surrounded by the unwavering love and care of her devoted children. Born on August 18, 1938, in New York City to Francesca and Francisco Tartaglione, she was the eldest of two girls. Her sister and lifelong best friend, Marie, arrived a few years later, and together they were inseparable — truly two peas in a pod. Margaret met the love of her life, Jack, when she was just ten years old, growing up in the same neighborhood. Their childhood friendship blossomed into a lifelong romance; they began dating at 15 and were married on November 16, 1958, at Our Lady of Solace in the Bronx. Their love story spanned decades and five beloved children. To know Margaret was to know a woman who lived for her family. Her heart found its greatest joy in being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. To her children, she was their compass — steady, wise, and nurturing. She knew when to speak and when to let silence carry the message. She was the family’s cheerleader, sharing updates and photos with pride and joy. Margaret also cherished her friendships deeply. Her ability to maintain lifelong connections— and continue making new friends well into her later years — was a true reflection of her warmth, loyalty, and generous spirit. She dedicated many years to the Yonkers Public Schools as a teacher’s aide, working alongside her dear friend Bill Rooney. Her natural connection with young children made her a beloved presence in the kindergarten classroom. Whether child or adult, former students would often recognize "Mrs. Marge" and greet her with a hug and a smile. Margaret is survived by her five children: John (Christine), Chris (Alely), Lisa (Joe), Michelle, and Giac (Hope); her nine grandchildren; and her three great-grandchildren. Her love and influence will live on in each of them. In honor of Margaret’s lifelong compassion and care for others, the family kindly asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
