Enrique Lahoz, 94, of New York, passed away peacefully on June 27,

2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted father, grandfather,

great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, he leaves behind a

powerful legacy of love, joy, and resilience that will continue to

echo through generations.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Enrique carried immense pride in his

heritage and was equally proud to be an American. He came from humble

beginnings, with limited resources but an abundance of love, drive and

determination. He taught us that with hard work and motivation,

anything is possible. As the pillar of our family, he was the one who

first laid our roots in this country, giving us the foundation for

opportunity. Paving the way for the lives we now live and dreams we

are able to chase. His life was a vibrant reflection of both cultures,

a life filled with music, dance, humor, and an unshakable belief in

the strength of family.

He was the proud father of seven daughters: Ediza, Erika, Ivelisse,

Modesta, Miriam, Betania, and Maritza. Whether near or far—with three

daughters in the U.S. and four in the Dominican Republic—his love and

devotion to them were fierce and unwavering. Even with an ocean

between them, he never let distance define his presence. He remained a

hands-on, devoted father, deeply connected to each of his daughters

and always proud to speak of them with warmth, joy, and pride. He is

survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 5

great-great-grandchildren, a growing legacy rooted in the values he

lived by and the love he so freely gave.

He shared a special and enduring bond with Maria, the mother of his

children and the great love of his life. Though life took them down

separate paths, their connection remained strong. Maria stood by his

side through his final hours, lovingly caring for him with the same

devotion she had always shown.

Enrique was a man of strength and fire, he fought to the very end,

showing the same determination in his final days that he carried

throughout his life. Even in his last chapter, he was dancing,

smiling, and spreading love. His spirit never dimmed.

A natural leader and man of principle, he taught those around him to

enjoy life fully, give freely, love with an open heart, and, above

all, to never accept less than the respect we all deserve. One of his

most unforgettable lessons was clear: “Don’t take sh*t from anyone.”

But alongside his fire was his warmth, he also taught us to always

leave home looking your best and fresh, wear and share a smile, and

greet everyone you meet to spread joy and connection wherever you go.

A lifelong Yankee fan, he watched games with the same intensity and

joy he brought to every part of his life. He lit up any room with his

charm, humor, rhythm, and zest for living. Whether dancing, telling

stories, or offering his wisdom, he made sure everyone around him felt

seen, loved and valued.

He will be remembered as a man who lived with passion, led with heart,

and loved without limits. His presence will be deeply missed, but his

vibrant spirit will forever live on in every life he touched.

Enrique Lahoz, de 94 años, de Nueva York, falleció con serenidad el 27

de junio de 2025, rodeado del amor de su familia. Padre, abuelo,

bisabuelo y tatarabuelo devoto, deja un poderoso legado de amor,

alegría y resiliencia que continuará resonando a través de las

generaciones.

Nacido en la República Dominicana, Enrique sentía un profundo orgullo

por su herencia y también por ser estadounidense. Vino de orígenes

humildes, con recursos limitados pero con una abundancia de amor y

determinación. Nos enseñó que, con trabajo duro y motivación, todo es

posible. Como pilar de nuestra familia, fue quien primero echó raíces

en este país, dándonos la base para tener oportunidades, abrirnos

camino en la vida que hoy vivimos y perseguir los sueños que ahora

podemos alcanzar. Su vida fue un reflejo vibrante de ambas culturas:

una vida llena de música, baile, humor y una creencia inquebrantable

en la fuerza de la familia.

Fue el orgulloso padre de siete hijas: Ediza, Erika, Ivelisse,

Modesta, Miriam, Betania y Maritza. Ya fuera cerca o lejos—con tres

hijas en los Estados Unidos y cuatro en la República Dominicana—su

amor y devoción hacia ellas fueron intensos e incondicionales. Incluso

con un océano de por medio, nunca permitió que la distancia definiera

su presencia. Fue un padre presente, cercano, y dedicado,

profundamente conectado con cada una de sus hijas y siempre hablaba de

ellas con orgullo, alegría y ternura. Le sobreviven 16 nietos, 27

bisnietos y 5 tataranietos, un legado en crecimiento, arraigado en los

valores que vivió y el amor que dio libremente.

Compartió un vínculo especial y duradero con María, la madre de sus

hijas y el gran amor de su vida. Aunque la vida los llevó por caminos

distintos, su conexión permaneció fuerte. María estuvo a su lado

durante sus últimas horas, cuidándolo con el mismo amor y dedicación

que siempre le ofreció.

Enrique fue un hombre de fuerza y fuego—luchó hasta el final,

demostrando la misma determinación en sus últimos días que lo acompañó

durante toda su vida. Incluso en su último capítulo, seguía bailando,

sonriendo y compartiendo amor. Su espíritu nunca se apagó.

Líder natural y hombre de principios, enseñó a quienes lo rodeaban a

disfrutar plenamente de la vida, dar sin medida, amar con el corazón

abierto y, sobre todo, a nunca aceptar menos del respeto que todos

merecemos. Una de sus lecciones más inolvidables era clara: “No dejes

que nadie te pase por encima.” Pero junto a su fuego también estaba su

calidez. Nos enseñó a salir siempre de casa bien arreglados y “en

Pinta”, a llevar y compartir una sonrisa, y a saludar a todos los que

encontremos para así sembrar alegría y conexión dondequiera que

vayamos.

Fanático de los Yankees durante toda su vida, veía los partidos con la

misma pasión y intensidad que le ponía a cada aspecto de su

existencia. Iluminaba cualquier lugar con su carisma, sentido del

humor, ritmo y entusiasmo por vivir. Ya fuera bailando, contando

historias o compartiendo su sabiduría, se aseguraba de que todos a su

alrededor se sintieran vistos, amados y valorados.

Será recordado como un hombre que vivió con pasión, lideró con el

corazón y amó sin límites. Su presencia será profundamente extrañada,

pero su espíritu vibrante vivirá por siempre en cada vida que tocó.
