Genevieve 'Gen' Lembo passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025 after a short illness. She was born in the Bronx on April 20, 1926 to Cherobina and Pasquale Mascolo and was pre-deceased by her four brothers Anthony, Francis, Theodore and Alfred; one sister, Marilyn and her daughter, Phyllis.
Gen attended school in the Bronx until her family moved to Mount Vernon, where she then attended and graduated from A. B. Davis High School.
In 1947, Gen married Anthony 'Slim' Lembo, the love of her life and they were side by side for over seventy seven years.
Gen was always involved in her church and community: in the PTA, as a Girl Scout leader and she sang in the choir. She also taught sewing, she was a knitter, an avid bowler and Yankees fan.
She was active with the Yonkers Board of Elections, Columbus Day Parade Committee, Parade Grand Marshall and Yonkers Planning Board. Gen was honored by the Yonkers Planning Board with a street named after her in Ridge Hill Shopping Center, Lembo Drive. Gen also worked for many years as a dental office manager and retired from Dr. Daniel Zonan's office.
Over forty years ago she and a few friends began a new chapter of the Order Sons of Italy in America, Le Amiche Lodge #2550, which translates to 'The Friends.' She was extremely proud of her Italian heritage and worked tirelessly to promote its culture.
Gen is survived by her husband, Slim; her daughters, Patricia (Chic) Castelli and Cathy (Harry) Lloyd, her grandson, Steven (Katia) Castelli and her great-grandson, Lucas. In addition, she is survived by daughters, Terry (Mike) Petrino and Rosemary (Al) Carinci; grandchildren, Michelle, Angelo, Pio, Dennis, Michael, Alessandra and Janine; and nine great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her life and legacy.
