Deborah Ganley Obituary

Deborah A. Ganley, lovingly known as Debbie, was born on January 24, 1957, at Tripler Army Hospital in O?ahu, Hawaii, to Barbara Wagahoff (Casey) and William Casey. In December of that same year, her family returned to the Bronx, New York, where Debbie spent her childhood and attended St. Brendan's Elementary School. She later graduated from Lincoln High School in 1975, where she was an active member of both the gymnastics and cheerleading teams.

On May 12, 1979, Debbie married her high school sweetheart, Salvatore Ganley, at St. Eugene's Church in Yonkers, NY. Their celebration continued at Valle's Steakhouse. Shortly after, the couple moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, where Sal was stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base. In 1981, their journey took them overseas to the Royal Air Force Station in Upper Heyford, England. While living abroad, Debbie joined the RAF Upper Heyford Women's Base Volleyball Team, traveling to Italy and Germany for various tournaments.

Returning to the United States in 1984, Debbie and Sal continued to build their lives together with their two children, Breanna and Salvatore. Debbie worked for many years as a waitress at A&V Family Restaurant, often alongside her mother, Barbara, and later her daughter, Breanna. Debbie worked for a few years for the Ardsley School District as a Teacher's Aide. A devoted mother and member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Amackassin Club, Debbie cherished the time she spent with friends and family on the tennis courts.

Passionate about wellness and beauty, Debbie attended Capri Cosmetology School and became a licensed esthetician, going on to work at Tranquility Spa in Scarsdale, NY, where she touched many lives with her warmth and care.

Debbie is survived by her beloved children, Breanna Ganley and Salvatore Ganley, and her cherished grandchildren: Richard (13), Alyssa Rose (10), and Salvatore Robert (9). She adored being a grandmother (their Mema), creating lasting memories filled with joy, love, and laughter. Debbie also leaves behind her mother, Barbara Wagahoff; her brother, Kenneth Casey; her aunt, Lynn Behrens; her uncle, Douglas Behrens; and her niece and nephew, Jillian and Kyle Casey. She held a lifelong friendship with Janet and Bob Iovino and many others whose lives she brightened.

Debbie was known for her zest for life. She loved dancing, laughing, traveling, taking walks, going out to dinner, and spending time with her family and friends, always making the most of every moment.

In January 2023, Debbie was diagnosed with stage 4 endometrial cancer. Despite the aggressive nature of her illness, she met every challenge with unwavering strength, enduring numerous rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries. Through it all, Debbie remained hopeful, courageous, and committed to fighting with grace.

Debbie's love, resilience, and joyful spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, her friends, and especially her grandchildren, who will carry her memory with them forever
