Born in October just 66 short years ago, Rich entered the world as the beloved son to Mary and William, and baby brother to William III, John, and Mary Jane.
He is survived by his wife Lori, daughter, Brooke - the light of his life, son-in-law Alex, and dogs Judge and Teddy.
Rich is also survived by his chosen family - Lou, Maria, Alison, Joe, Angela, Bobby, Alexandra, Geena, Sabina, Vera and George. He was deeply grateful for the friendship, love, and laughter he shared with you.
Though he possessed the intelligence and talent to do most anything in life, Rich chose to become a master carpenter. His home was his labor of love, possessing many fine details and designs. Neil Diamond's song 'Morningside' spoke to his quiet depth and sentimentality that could so often be found in his work. In the homes of friends and clients, his skill and love for the craft live on through the drawer that glides effortlessly into place, through the hand-carved wood smoothed to gentle perfection, and through the lines and curves so natural you'd never know the careful planning that went into designing them.
Rich had a deep appreciation for good food, a challenging crossword puzzle, fishing, the History channel, and any opportunity to learn something new and thought-provoking. He generously shared this knowledge with the younger members of the family.
More recently, he was grateful for the care and compassion shown to him by the staff at NYP/Weill Cornell on 10 South and West. He bonded with the staff over many heartfelt conversations, helping him to miss home a little less during his long stays. He also spent time with cousin Lucille bonding over conversation and a hearty pastrami sandwich.
We will miss the teasing, the laughs, the dad jokes (with the required eye rolls and groans), the steadiness, dependability, and everything else that defined you.
Rest in peace knowing that you will always be loved and missed.
