Henry Ismael Barcenas, 34, of Carmel, NY, passed away in his hometown, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion.
Born in Carmel, NY, Henry was the cherished son of Ismael and Irma Barcenas. He attended some college and made lasting memories as captain of his high school soccer team. A devoted Yankee fan and football enthusiast, Henry also enjoyed the simple joys of life—whether it was being at a game, spending time with family, or taking long walks with his little boy.
Henry was a very kind soul who cared deeply for everyone around him. He touched countless lives with his compassion, selflessness, and warmth. To know Henry was to know a true angel on earth. He always wanted to make people happy, and he carried a special light within him—a light placed on him by the Lord—that shone through in the way he loved and cared for others.
The center of Henry’s world was his son, Gabriel. Being a father was not only his greatest joy, but also his highest purpose. Everything Henry did revolved around Gabriel—he wanted only the best for his baby boy and dedicated his days to giving him love, attention, and happiness. Whether it was daily walks, bicycle rides, or simply spending time together, Henry poured his whole heart into fatherhood. Gabriel was the light of his life, and Henry’s love and devotion as a father will live on forever through him. Gabriel would always call out for him saying “Pa.”
He is survived by his parents, Ismael and Irma Barcenas; mother of his baby, Rina Kumari; his son, Gabriel Barcenas; his sister, Wendy Barcenas; his brother, Jeffrey Barcenas; and his nieces, Gabby Casanova and Brianna Casanova. He is also remembered by many extended family members and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Henry was welcomed into heaven by his grandparents, who preceded him in death.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Henry’s life on Friday, September 26, at First Baptist Church, 460 Main Street, Brewster, NY. Viewing will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
In Henry’s memory, contributions may be made through the family’s GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/73a7904b9.
Henry’s light will continue to shine through his son and the many lives he touched. He will be remembered always for his kindness, his love for family, and the joy he brought into this world. Our family loves him deeply and looks forward to the day we meet again at the Gates of Heaven.
“Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.”
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day.” — 2 Timothy 4:7–8
