Our beloved Sister and Aunt, Margaret Rich passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Montefiore Einstein Medical Center in the Bronx. Margaret, a lifelong citizen of Yonkers, New York, was born on February 4,1958 to Jean and Joseph Rich, also of Yonkers. She attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel during her elementary and middle school years. However, she graduated from Yonkers High in 1976. While working at local grocery stores, she attended Manhattan College in the Bronx at night. She earned her Associate's degree in Applied Science (Business Administration) in 1982 and her bachelor's degree in science (Business Administration. Her career began in 1982 at the Yonkers Board of Education in the finance department. Her career would span 33 years until her retirement in early 2013. In January 2014 she suffered a major stroke which left her paralyzed on one side and permanently disabled. Margaret continued to deal with serious health issues over the next 12 years. In December 2024, she was diagnosed with oral cavity cancer of the tongue and underwent major surgery. She was sent to a nursing facility for rehabilitation after what was thought to be a successful removal of all the cancer. This was a very rough period for her and she struggled a lot. Sadly, the cancer returned, metastasizing to the lungs and pelvis. Despite more radiation and immunotherapy, the cancer was just too aggressive, and her health continued to decline. She was eventually transferred to Montefiore Einstein Medical Center after becoming medically unstable where she eventually passed among family. We are all going to miss her very much. Although we are sad, she is no longer with us, we are glad she is no longer going through so much pain and suffering. We will never forget how much of a hard worker and a caring person she was. Almost all of our family vacations from years ago were possible because of her. In the end, she always tried to make you happy. She never got married and never had children, her nieces and nephews were like her children. Also, she needed her game shows, virtual card games, and crossword puzzles. We will never forget her! She was predeceased by her parents Jean(d. 2022) and Joseph Rich(d. 2019) and by her younger sister Diane(d. 2004). She leaves behind her younger sisters JoAnn Tamarazzo(Alfred) and Jeanne Rodriguez(Frank) as well as her nieces and nephews Frank Joseph Rodriguez, Jenny Rose Rodriguez, Jenna Branch(William), JoAnna Tamarazzo, Freddy Tamarazzo, and Jillian Tamarazzo. In lieu of flowers donations to the Humane Society in name would be greatly appreciated.
