Antonio Jose Chita passed away peacefully at White Plains Hospital on November 6,2025 in White Plains, NY at the age of 65.
Antonio was born April 1st, 1960 in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, to Manuel and Rosa Chita. He later immigrated to Yonkers, NY, where he attended Saunders Trade Technical High School and was a graphic designer by trade.
Antonio is survived by his mother, Rosa Maria Chita, of Yonkers, NY and four nieces--Christina Rau and husband Dennis of Ballston Lake, NY; Stephanie Hutchings and husband Patrick of San Antonio, TX; Deborah Chita of Red Hook, NY; and Elizabeth Dipietrantonio and husband Brandon of Austin, TX; his great niece Isabela Rau and great nephew Mickey Hutchings and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded by his father Manuel and his brother Jose.
Antonio had an immense love of music and you could easily hear him at any given moment enjoying his rock and roll with guitar in hand. He also had a passion for art and was an extremely talented artist and gardener. His was most at peace with his hands in the soil, nurturing his beloved gardens. All who loved him will miss what beauty he created with a paint brush, some soil, and a little imagination.
Calling hours will be 2PM-6PM on November 9, 2025 at Community Home for Funerals, 601 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704. The funeral will be held at 11AM on November 10, 2025 at Community Home for Funerals, followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.
