Ibis Ferrer Rios, born on May 30, 1958, in Havana, Cuba, passed away on November 13, 2025, surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of Ernesto "Junior" Rios, daughter of Julio Ferrer and Isora Gonzalez, sister to Isora Pineda and sister-in-law to Jose Pineda, aunt to Michael and Jessika Pineda, and a friend to many. Ibis came to the United States as a young girl with her parents and sister, beginning a life shaped by resilience and a deep connection to her loved ones.

Growing up in Washington Heights after coming to the U.S., Ibis later received her education and graduated from Hunter College. She then moved to Yonkers with her family where she continued to reside until her passing. Ibis approached life with sincerity and a warm, genuine spirit. She was known for being herself completely, for showing affection without hesitation, and for being present when it mattered. She offered comfort in her own way and created space for others to feel understood.

For many years, Ibis worked as a Court Interpreter in the Bronx Supreme and Criminal Courts, assisting countless individuals navigating the legal system. Her work reflected her dedication to clarity, fairness, and respect. She also made wonderful friends during her time there.

Her family and loved ones will carry with them the imprint of her love and the moments they shared. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave and in the lasting influence she had on the people whose lives she touched.

She will be dearly missed.
