Ada Egidi Obituary

Ada Egidi, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on December 16, 2025 at 91 years of age.

Ada was born on February 18, 1934, to the late Joseph and Maria (Di Nunzio) DeFelice in the Park Hill section of Yonkers, NY, where she lived her early years, attending St. Mary's grammar school and Yonkers High School. As a preschooler, Ada met three young girls from the neighborhood who, together, became life-long friends.

While working as an executive secretary in a New York City advertising agency, Ada met her husband Frank on a trip to Italy in 1958. They married in Rome and established a life together in North Yonkers, where they raised three children and were parishioners of Christ the King Church. Ada worked as a part-time bookkeeper for Christ the King School. She eventually returned to full-time work as an executive assistant to the heads of the nursing staff at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, and later as office manager for Geriatric Services P.C., in Yonkers.

Ada was an avid learner with a passion for reading, word games, and music that began in childhood and remained throughout her life. Music and books were her constant companions and as she aged, music continued to sustain her with good memories and joy.

A wonderful hostess, Ada's home was a comfortable fixture for holiday gatherings as well as a welcoming base for Frank's many relatives who visited from Italy over the years. Cooking was a specialty, and she held court at the kitchen table, where food and conversation were plentiful. Ada enjoyed attending the opera and Broadway shows, shopping with her daughters and getting together with friends. When grandchildren arrived, she embraced the role of loving grandmother with the same enthusiasm and generosity that were her character traits and the bonds between Grandma and grandsons were loving and strong.

Ada was surrounded by her loving family until the end and will be missed greatly. She was pre-deceased by her husband Frank, with whom she was married for 64 years. She is survived by her children and their respective spouses, daughters Paula (David Fuentes) Egidi of Brooklyn and Carla (Stephen) Manzi of Pleasantville; son David (Luna Yoshioka) Egidi of Brooklyn, and her grandsons Philip and Alexander Manzi. The family is grateful to Myra Buchko, Ada's devoted caregiver of six years, and Calvary Hospice, for their care, guidance and support in her final months.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Hospital in Ada's memory.
