Maxim Rappoport Obituary

Our dear son and friend, Max passed away on May 8, 2026 leaving us with profound sadness and an indelible hole in the hearts of those who knew him.

Maxim Rappoport, affectionately known as Max, Maxie, Maksyusha, was born on December 18, 1968 in St Petersberg, Russia. He is the only child of Joseph and Lydia Rappoport. His family emigrated to the United States in 1979 and Max became a Proud American!

Max graduated Forest Hills High School in 1986 as Salutatorian. He went on earn an undergraduate degree in Finance at New York University. Max furthered his studies with a Pharmacy degree from St John’s University in Queens, NY. And he found his true calling in life, being a pharmacist. He loved and was beloved by all his patients.

Max was a luminary. He was wise beyond his years, intellectually curious and easy to talk to. He possessed the kindest, gentlest soul and believed that people were inherently good.

Max had a great love of sports, especially football. His favourite team was the Denver Broncos. Opening Day in September was his Christmas. He enjoyed reading, he had a keen delight for a good mystery. And of course, his love of chess. He played in many tournaments at the highest levels.

Max is survived by his mom, Lydia. His kind and gentle soul will never be forgotten by the countless number of people whose lives he touched.

Max will be remembered on Thursday, May 14, 2026 4:00 – 8:00 pm
