James Patrick Mahon of Raleigh NC (formerly of Armonk and Port Washington, NY) died suddenly on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Duke University Hospital. He was 81. He was born on November 27, 1934 in the Bronx, NY to James and Noreen (nee Hannon) Mahon. He attended Cardinal Hayes High School and received his BS from Fordham and an MBA from Columbia Business School. Early in his career, James worked as an accountant with Arthur Andersen and Exxon Mobil, where he traveled the world. Later, he was CFO for Siboney Corporation. He also maintained a multi-decade long CPA practice supporting the tax planning needs of the lay and religious in the New York-metro area. He was active in the Armonk Lions Club and the Armonk Zoning Board of Appeals. He was an avid follower of Fordham University sports and relished the academic and sporting accomplishments of his grandchildren. He was a man of simple pleasures, who liked nothing more than a challenging crossword puzzle, a Hershey chocolate bar and a good pipe. James is survived by his wife of 13 years Patricia O'Connor, sons from a previous marriage, James (Meghan) and Brian (Christine), and five grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings, Col. John Mahon and Gerard Mahon. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
