Obituary of Rose M. Maniglia

Please share a memory of Rose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rose Maniglia was called home to Jesus on December 8, 2015, The Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Rose was born in New York City in a tenement flat on the lower eastside on August 10, 1928. She met her husband Andrew F. Maniglia at a USO dance while he was recovering from gunshot wounds he sustained in WWII on the Island of Okinawa. They were married for 62 years and settled in the Bronx where they raise three boys into manhood. She grew up on East 12 Street in Manhattan and braved and conquered the Depression while preparing to raise a family. Ultimately she settled in Throggs Neck, Bronx where she and her husband Andrew (Otto) always sacrificed everything and would rather "go without" so that their children may have all that they needed. As a young mother, she was an active member of the Christian Mothers Association at St. Benedicts Parish in the Bronx. Rose was able to provide a Catholic religious foundation for her children that most would keep for the rest of their lives. She enjoyed the great indoors. Her primary interests were keeping house, caring for her elderly mother, worrying about her FDNY husband and worrying about the safety and well being of her children – even as adults. The last few years of her life were not easy as she was bed ridden with various maladies. She never once complained. Rose was a true suffering soul. She leaves behind her sister Vivian Musico of NYC, her first cousin Dorothy Ross of Florida and three sons, Charles Maniglia of Branford, CT, James Maniglia of NYC and Andrew Maniglia of Westchester County. In addition, she leaves behind six grandchildren: Lisa Maniglia, Andrew V. Maniglia, Lana Maniglia, James A. Maniglia, Vincent Maniglia and Bianca Maniglia. A viewing will be held at Sinatra Memorial Home located at 601Yonkers Ave, Yonkers, NY 10704 on Friday, December 11 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. There will be a Mass of the Resurrection at Saint Ba rtholemew's RC Church at 15 Palmer Road at 10 am on Saturday, December 12 at 10am. Interment will be at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Phelps Memorial Hospital, Sleepy Hollow, NY who provided outstanding critical care that enabled her to pass peacefully to the Lord.
