Nicola (Nick) Gionta of Yonkers, NY died Tuesday, January 19, 2016. He was 84 years old. He leaves his beloved wife of 57 years, Anna, his son, Nick Jr. and wife Pamela; his daughter, Margaret Cerrone and her husband Luciano, and five wonderful grandchildren; Stefanie, Jessica, Nicholas, Giulia, and Danielle. He is predeceased by his beloved son John. Nick was born in Spigno Saturnia, Latina, Italy on December 13, 1931. He left Italy at the age of 17, and traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is there that he learned what would become his life's work, the trade of master diesel mechanic. He found his way to Toronto, Canada, before finally settling in New York, where he met and married Anna De Angelis in 1959. In 1978, he opened his own truck repair shop, NV Truck & Equipment Repairs in Mt. Vernon, NY, which he ran with his two sons. He had a successful business for 25 years until his retirement. He battled Alzheimer's Disease for several years and was lovingly cared for at home by his dedicated wife and family. He passed away with them at his side. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave. on Thursday from 4-8PM. Funeral mass at St. Barnabas Church on Friday at 10:45AM . Entombment Rosewood Mausoleum at Fernclff Cemetery.
