Murry Gelberg, age 79, of Bedford, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4th, 2016. He was the cherished husband of Phyllis, father of Andrea and husband Marc, father of Steven and wife Lisa along with his grandchildren, Alex, Leah, Ian and Liam. He was an accomplished, award winning Industrial and Graphic Designer. His storied career began in Washington D.C. where his was born and grew up. His design firm Tassi Gelberg Symons worked with clients such as The Rouse Company, The Washington Post, Head Skis as well as many government agencies. In 1972 he relocated to New York where he worked closely with the legendary Milton Glaser. Projects of note include the Museum at the Top of the World Trade Center and Grand Union. From there he went on to establish his own design firm, Murry Gelberg and Company. After many years of working for himself he went on to work as a principal at Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn Architects. Murry was known for his work creating public spaces, museum exhibits, buildings and green spaces. Whether designing the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian or a park for the city of Belize, Murry continually united purpose and form to offer a glimpse of something new. In between projects he kept himself busy producing original yet timeless works of pottery, calligraphy and assemblages.
