Obituary of Maria H. Voltaggio

Maria Hermelinda Solis Voltaggio (a.k.a. Irma and Grandma V.), most recently of Mount Kisco, NY; and formerly of Whiting, NJ; Ocala, FL; and Hillside, NJ; died peacefully on November 23, 2023. Daughter to Miguel Angel C. Solis and Lilly Corkill Solis, and predeceased by her beloved husband Sebastian Rocco Voltaggio (a.k.a. Don Voltaire) and son Joseph Voltaggio, she is survived by her brother Joseph Solis; children Vincent, Janice (Lohman), Linda, and Michael; granddaughters Sarah, Cassandra, Lauren, Liliana, Christa, and Alessandra; many, many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many wonderful friends. Maria was raised in Brownsville, TX and attended Brownsville High School. She was introduced to Don by her high school best friend, Wanda Voltaggio, and, at 19 years old, married into the very large Voltaggio family. Maria spent over 30 years in Hillside, NJ where she raised her 5 children. Along with providing a loving home to her husband and children and often hosting extended family at home, Maria was dedicated to every church she attended, whether singing in the choir, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, or participating in the grief support group. Maria will be remembered at a funeral mass at the Church of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Whiting, NJ on January 8, 2024 at 10:45am. She will be buried alongside her husband in the BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. Donations in Maria Voltaggio's memory may be made to Catholic Charities at catholiccharitiesusa.org.
