Obituary of Rosemarie Mauro Greenbaum

Please share a memory of Rosemarie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rosemarie (Mauro) Greenbaum, devoted mother and wife, dedicated golfer and proud New Yorker, died on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, after a three-year battle with endometrial cancer. She was 71. Family was of paramount importance to Mrs. Greenbaum, born May 22, 1940, the youngest child of Florence and Frank Mauro in Mount Kisco, N.Y. Her older brothers Vince, Frank and Bob were devoted to her while her mother worked nights and her father sometimes worked two jobs. She was a member of the second graduating class from Fox Lane High School in Bedford, N.Y., in 1958, and went on to the Wood Secretarial School in New York. She worked for an electronics firm in Mount Kisco after graduating from secretarial school and married David R. Greenbaum of Mount Kisco, whom she had been seeing for five years, on July 23, 1960. Mrs. Greenbaum was the linchpin at home while her husband finished his service in the Army and began to build his career. She tended scraped knees, maintained the household and turned out gourmet meals, living out her belief in the high calling of the work of wife and mother. She and her husband were almost always side-by-side, and often on the golf course together in the lifelong hobby they shared. For many years - but only after her children had grown enough - she participated in an annual golf outing with close friends. Mrs. Greenbaum is survived by her husband, David, now of White Stone, Va.; her son Kurt, daughter-in-law Janis, and grandchildren Sarah and Matthew, of Chesterfield, Mo.; her son Steven, daughter-in-law Danielle, and granddaughter Madeline, of Ardsley, Pa. Visitation for Mrs. Greenbaum will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, at Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E. Main Street, Mount Kisco. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 2 Green Street, Mount Kisco.
