Obituary of Carolina M. Barbieri

Carolina M. Barbieri, of Yonkers, New York, passed away peacefully at the age of 83, surrounded by her loved ones on November 11, 2011. Carolina was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her favorite pastime was spending time in her garden where her green thumb allowed her to produce hearty vegetables and beautiful flowers. This golden touch was not only evident in her garden but in her everyday encounters with her family. She touched the hearts of all who surrounded her and gave everyone the will to be better people. Carolina loved her family unconditionally. She went out of her way to put others first. We will always remember how her beautiful green eyes could brighten up any room and bring joy to the people around her. She will forever be in our hearts. Born in Torre Di Ruggiero, Catanzaro, Italy on June 22, 1928 to Francesco and Maria Santa Apa. Carolina married Rosario G. Barbieri on December 22, 1951. They immigrated to Yonkers, New York on October 25, 1970 with their children. Carolina is survived by her spouse Rosario; her 5 children: Elisabetta Luciano (Franco), Frank Barbieri (Rosetta), Gregorio Barbieri, Maria Ranellone-Steigelman (Richard) and Graziella Leone (Giuseppe); her 13 grandchildren: Carolina (Armando), Nicolina, Graziella (James), Gregorio Jr., Francesco, Joseph, Stephanie, Anntonia, Christina, Antonella, Olivia, Giuseppe Jr., and Giovanni; and her 7 great-grandchildren: Charles, Dante, Adam, Ariella, Aidan, Isabella and Angelina. She is also survived by her 3 sisters, Maria Corrado, Teresa Iozzo and Antonietta Genovese. Carolina is predeceased by her sister, Maria Grazia Vono.
