Obituary of Kathleen M. Reed

Kathleen Mary Reed was taken in to God's arms on November 27, 2011 with her family surrounding her. Kathleen was born on June 23, 1948 to Robert and Margaret Rholfs in Yonkers, NY. She grew up in Yonkers and graduated in Yonkers High School. She went to nursing school and became a licensed practical nurse. On June 29th, 1968 she married the love of her life, Silas Reed, Sr. The met at Hudson View nursing home. They shared a wonderful life together and raised four beautiful children. She was a beloved and devoted employee at Yonkers General Hospital for 39 years until she was forced to retire due to illness. Kathy, as those who knew her well called her, lived her life giving to others. She was adored by her patients, friends and co-workers. She was a second mother to many, and treated everyone like family. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren. Kathy suffered with many ailments and constant pain for the last few years of her life. Through it all, she still spend most of her time trying to make sure her family was taken care of. We miss her so much and wanted us here with her longer, but we know God said she was too good to suffer anymore. She is in His arms, free of pain, full of peace. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 43 years, Silas Reed Sr, of the home, four children, Silas Reed Jr, (Rita) of Mohegan Lake, NY, Daniel J. Reed, (Juraitta) of Georgetown, SC, Kristie Reed-Thompson and Alicia Reed of Yonkers, NY and the person raised as a daughter, Shabazza Draughn of Phoenix, AZ, eight grandchildren, Daniel P. Reed, Jada Reed and Jalen Reed of Georgetown, SC, Nina Reed and Antonio Reed of Mohegan Lake, NY, Tyreek Jackson, Jerry Thompson III and Olivia Thompson of Yonkers, NY, six sisters-in-law, Bertha Turner (Thomas) of Yonkers, NY, Ella Reed, Viena Reed, Nora Brown, (Marion James), Nanette Reed and Myrtle Reed-Collins (Michael) of Georgetown, SC, six brothers in law, William Reed, Johnny Reed, John Arthur Reed,(Margaret) Lee Reed, Sr.(Annette), Dwight Holmes (Gwendale) of Georgetown, SC and Jimmie Reed of Canada, and her mother-in-law, Nita Reed of Georgetown, SC as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Robert and Margaret Rholfs, and her father-in-law, James Reed Jr.
