Charlotte C (La Butis) De Laura, of Katonah died peacefully at home on January 7, 2012. She was 100 years old. She was born and raised in Yonkers and spent her adult life living in Mt. Kisco and Katonah with her family. Charlotte was married to R.D. De Laura in May 1940 and raised five children. Her husband and son Joseph predeceased her. She is survived by her daughters Yvonne Harper, Suzanne Carpentier, Mary De Laura and Elizabeth De Laura. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister Alice Williams. Charlotte, a registered nurse, graduated from the Cochran School of Nursing in 1932. Most of her adult life she practiced or taught at various hospitals including St. John's Riverside, Creedmore, Northern Westchester Hospital and finally retiring at the age of 73 from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. She also devoted her time and nursing expertise to community members in need earning the nickname "Mrs. Nurse". Charlotte enjoyed many hobbies including crafting jewelry and rosaries, photography, gardening, extensive travels abroad and participating in Elder-Hostel programs throughout the U.S. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9PM at Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E. Main Street, Mount Kisco, NY. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 2 Green St., Mt. Kisco. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Mt. Kisco.
