Obituary of Diane V. Sumpter
Please share a memory of Diane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Diane Victoria Gill Sumpter, age 60, departed from this world on February 10th 2012 for a place of magic, wonder and eternal peace.
She was born December 9th, 1951 to Erdine Wilson Gill and Jesse Gill. The values they imparted on her were honesty, courage,
and the importance of family. Values she upheld to the highest degree throughout her years and passed onto to her daughter
and grandchildren.
Diane had many talents, but those that stood out most amongst her family and friends were her culinary prowess and prodigious ability in decorating. She enjoyed
spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. She had a degree in shopping and a minor in polite sarcasm. But perhaps her most memorable talent
was her ability to make you feel comfortable, protected, cared for and loved. She always greeted you with a smile and made you feel at home.
She leaves to carry on her legacy: Her daughter Janet Jones Da Costa, her son-in law Charlie Da Costa, her grandson Charles, her grandaughters Charlene &
Charleise, great grandchildren Oliver & Olivia, her brother & sister-in-law John & Lestine Williams of Reidsville, GA, her brother
Terry Williams of Greenburgh, NY, her longest and dearest friend Francis "Sookie" Truss of Yonkers, NY and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Diane was predeceased by her husband, Michael Sumpter and her sister Rhonda Wilson.
