Peter J. D'Elia of Yonkers, NY passed away peacefully on April 2, 2012 with his family by his side. Peter was born in New York City on November 23, 1923 to the late Giuseppe and Raffaela (Mele) D'Elia and moved to Brooklyn as a child. Peter proudly served his country in the Army in WWII. He was the owner of Elm St. Liquor Store in Yonkers for 20 years and later worked summers at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle. Peter, affectionately known as Uncle Peter to many, was the beloved brother of Fay Landi, devoted uncle of Dr. Denise Landi, Joseph (Nancy) Landi, adored great-uncle of Connie & Joseph Landi. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann D'Elia and brother in law, Alphonse (Al) Landi. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc, 601 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral Service at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Yonkers on Thursday at 10 AM. Entombment at Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made his memory to the St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place,Memphis, TN 38105-1905, www.stjude.org
