Marion Oldi, 87, of Yonkers passed away peacefully on Friday May 11, 2012 at Sound Shore Medical Center with her loving children by her side. She was born in Yonkers, New York on December 11, 1924, the daughter of R. Thomas and Virginia Baldassare. She was predeceased by her first husband John Oldi and her second husband William Mahon. Marion graduated from Commerce High School in Yonkers and began working as a bookkeeper. She worked with her brother Tom at Thomas Motors in Yonkers for many years. Marion had a long career in Westchester County and New York State politics. In 1974, she became the first female Democratic Deputy Commissioner of the Westchester County Board of Elections and later became Commissioner - a post she held for 17 years. In addition, she was a former Chairperson of the Women's Division of The New York State Democratic Committee, a State Committee person for the 87th Assembly district, a Westchester County Democratic Committee person, and President of the 2nd Ward Democratic Club in Yonkers. She was a lifetime member of Saint Paul the Apostle Parish in Yonkers, where she served as a lector for many years. In her later years she was President of the Coyne Park Senior Center, where she enjoyed many games of cards with her sister Mary and other friends. Marion was the beloved mother of Michael (Fran) Oldi of White Plains, Ginny (Ed) Bradley of New Rochelle and Joanne (Donald) Capone of Guilderland, New York. She is also survived by her grandchildren John Fiore (Mary) Oldi, Melissa (Stephen) Ferarra, Christopher Oldi, Jennifer (Jack) Celata, E. Daniel (Leah) Bradley, Michael Lee and Jessica Capone and 5 great grandchildren. She was the beloved sister of Mary Masterjoseph and the late Thomas Baldassare. Calling hours will be from 5 to 9 on Monday May 14th at Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave. Yonkers NY. Funeral will be held at 10:00 on Tuesday May 15th at Saint Paul the Apostle Church with internment at Mount Hope Cemetery.
