Obituary of Pearl Landi

Pearl Landi, there will be sadness but fond memories of a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, for today Pearl walks hand in hand with her Lord. She passed away on February 28, 2013 at the age of 99 in Tucson, AZ. Pearl was born in Yonkers, NY to Leoferro & Elisa Martinelli. She married Michael Landi in 1937 in Mt. Carmel Church. Pearl served as President of the PTA'S. As a devoted parishioner of Mt. Carmel, she volunteered, sang in the choir & was President of the St. Ann's Sodality. She was active in the Republican Party and served on many school & charity fund raising committees. Baking became the symbol of love for family and friends and her toll house cookies and biscuits nourished many a soul in NY and AZ. She will be remembered for the 274 monogrammed Christmas Stockings she knitted in a 38 year tradition. Pearl is preceded in death by her husband Michael, sisters Olga Romano & Mafalda Castelli. She is survived her children Connie (Bud) Daniel, Anthony (Adelia) Landi, grandchildren Marisa (Will) Cocks, Christina (Brendan) Murray, great grandchildren Kristen & Brendan Murray,and Kyle Cocks, sister Elissa Corbo, brother Sonny Martinelli and many nieces & nephews who brightened her life with visits and calls after her move to Arizona. Her first residence was the Broadway Proper Retirement Community where the staff and residents helped her make the transition to a new life happy and meaningful. Most recently she lived at the Villas at Houghton. The family is thankful for the loving care of the Villa's staff and comfort provided by Heartland Hospice. A private viewing will be held at Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc., 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, NY. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 at Mt Carmel Church, 70 Park Hill Ave, Yonkers. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or Holy Innocents Shrine Foundation, c/o A.
