Louise Emily Burke Turns, 102 years old, a resident of Mt. Kisco for over 66 years, died last Wednesday at her home. Mrs. Turns was born July 13, 1910 in Philadelphia, PA and was the second eldest of 13 sisters and brothers. Both of Mrs. Turns', parents Carter and Edna Collins are also deceased. Mrs. Turns was the mother of 7 children, Alma Neumann, Robert Burke, Jr., Donald Allen Burke, Dorothy Mae Paterson and Johanna Pope, the surviving adopted daughters are, Ali Turns and Eugenia Turns both residing in Mt. Kisco, New York. Mrs. Turns out lived two husbands, Robert Burke, Sr. and Herman Turns. Mrs. Turns lived in her home, from 1947 till her passing; Mrs. Turns was a true renaissance woman, she purchased her home and did so as a divorced woman with four children; she remarried in 1950. Mrs. Turns was member of those dignified women called , 'The Help' , raised and educated both her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Turns is survived by, 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 19 great, great grandchildren. As God would have it, Mrs.Turns made her home going journey, as her great granddaughter gave birth to the newest great great grandchild. The Lord taketh with one hand and giveth with the other. We are truly blessed. Praise God from whom all blessing flow. Friends may call on Thursday, March 21, from 6PM to 9PM at Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E. Main Street, Mount Kisco, NY. The funeral will be Friday, March 22 at 11:00 at St. Francis AME Zion Church, 3 Hillside Ave, Mt. Kisco. Interment will be in Bedford Union, Bedford Hills. Repast to follow at St. Francis AME Zion Church
