Gene Del Bene passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on May 15th after a long illness. He was a resident of Fishkill, NY but formally a long time resident of Yonkers, NY. Gene was born on September 7, 1927, in Palena, Italy, to Salvatore and Emilia (Campana). He was the beloved husband for 60 years to Carmella Salerno DelBene, loving father of Gene, Steven (Patricia), and Lisa Vlad (John). He was also predeceased by his beloved son, John, in 2009. Gene was the devoted grandfather to Danielle, Kristen and Jennifer Del Bene, Max Del Bene, and Olivia, Angela and Isabella Vlad. He served in the 8th Army, saw active duty in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1953. Gene was a lifelong member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, working extensively in the construction industry in the New York City area as a General Superintendent. Gene retired in January of 1993. He has been enjoying his grandchildren, his vegetable and flower gardens, his love of the Yankees and his visits to Atlantic City. Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9PM at Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc., 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, NY. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 at St.Bartholomew Church, Palmer Rd. & Saw Mill River Rd., Yonkers. Entombment Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice, Inc, 374 Violet Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or St Bartholomew's Church, Palmer Road, Yonkers, NY 10701
