Robert W. Buchanan, 85, a lifetime Yonkers resident died peacefully on September 11, 2013. For 26 years Robert was a Westchester County police officer, retiring as a sergeant. After retiring he was then employed in security at the Loral Corp. Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On May 29, 1928 he was born in Yonkers to the late Hugh and Helen Buchanan. Beloved husband of the late Frances E. (Barbarita) Buchanan. Devoted father of Robert H. Buchanan, Laurie (Mark) Garson, Debra Cerini and Karen Silvestri. Cherished grandfather of David Buchanan, Ilyssa and Kelly Garson, Angela Cerini and Francine, Ralph III and Gina Silvestri. Loving brother of the late Thomas Buchanan and Helen (Betty) Harty. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Avenue on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service on Monday at 10:00 am followed by interment at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions to The American Cancer Society or your favorite charity preferred.
