Obituary of Steffani Selvaggio

Steffani Selvaggio, a life-long resident of Hastings-on-Hudson, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2013 at the age of 95. Steffani was born to the late Casimere and Adeline Kulsha on January 19, 1918. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1936 and married the late Blaise Selvaggio on November 30, 1940 at St. Stanislaus Kostka R.C. Church in Hastings. Steffani worked at The Reader's Digest in Pleasantville for over 30 years where she was a dedicated employee and enjoyed singing in The Digest's Choir. She was an active member of St. Stanislaus Church and Choir, The Hastings Busy Bees and Senior Canteen and The Hastings Mothers' Club. Steffani enjoyed volunteering at Hillside Elementary School, The Hastings Historical Society and The Hastings Library. She lived her life with kindness, gentleness and grace. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband, her sisters Anne Mueller, Lena Riolo and brothers Michael and Frank Kulsha. Steffani is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Bill Borowitz of Hastings, her sister Stella Totoro of Raleigh, NC, grandchildren James Borowitz of Middletown, CT and Christine Harrington of Hellertown, PA and 4 great-grandchildren, Mark, Nicholas and Matthew Borowitz and Kyra Harrington. The family wishes to thank the staff at Andrus on Hudson in Hastings for their care and support during the years that Steffani was a resident, and especially to her devoted CNA and friend, Sharon. Visiting will be on Sunday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9p.m. at The Hastings Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's R.C. Church in Hastings. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steffani's memory to the Hastings Ambulance Corp., The Hastings Mothers' Club or The Hastings Historical Society.
