Ermelinda Tolli a long time Yonkers resident, died peacefully November 25, 2013, she was 92. Erma was born August 26, 1921 to Giuseppe and Maria (Del Bene) Vittoria in Palena, Italy. She came to Yonkers, NY as a young child and attended Yonkers Public Schools. She is survived by 1 sister Ida DiBenedetto, predeceased by 1 sister Mary Vittoria, 2 brothers Mario and Anthony.
After leaving school she worked in various jobs in Getty Square, and then during WWII she was employed by General Motors as a riveter, building planes. After the war she married Carmine Tolli in 1946 at Mt. Carmel Church in Yonkers. They were inseparable and did everything together. They enjoyed many driving vacations to Florida during the winter. Carmine predeceased her in 1989. They raised 2 children, Maureen (Ken) Spatta and Dr. John "Butch" Tolli (Daria). Also survived by 4 grandchildren, Carl (Lisa) Natale, Michelle(John) Kapica, Dr. John Tolli Jr., and Jeanna Tolli. 4 great children Drew and Dean Kapica, Marisa and Samantha Natale.
Erma loved to cook; she would feed anybody who came to visit her no matter what time of the day it was. Family, relatives, friends and even anyone working around her house , would always leave with a full belly. She loved making homemade pastas, spaghetti, ravioli, gnocchi and manicotti, and we all loved eating them. She would share her recipes with all who asked. She also loved to go to Atlantic City with her sisters and friends to play the slots. Her life revolved around her family, she was always there if you needed something. She will be greatly missed. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave. on Friday from 3-8 PM. Funeral service on Saturday at 11:15 AM. Interment Ferncliff Cemetery.
