Obituary of Alice B. Durney

Alice Durney, 96, passed away at her home on December 13, 2013, after a long illness. Mrs. Durney was a third generation Mt. Kisco resident who was recently honored at the elementary school's centennial celebration as their oldest living high school graduate where Mrs. Durney graduated in 1934 as the class salutatorian. Alice Britton married John Durney in 1940 and was employed as a teller by National Bank of Westchester. She also worked for twenty-five years for Northern Westchester Hospital in the Communications and Development Department. Mrs. Durney is survived by two daughters, Beatrice Reis of Chatham, NY, and Kit Vilkas, resident of Mt. Kisco; two granddaughters, Erin Costa and Lindsey Casanova, both of Chatham; and two great-grandchildren, Travis and Ariana Costa. The family will receive friends at the Oelker-Cox and Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E Main Street, Mt Kisco, NY from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Monday December 16, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 10:30 AM, followed by an interment at St. Francis Cemetery, 236 Lexington Ave, Mt. Kisco, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Northern Westchester Hospital, Mt. Kisco Senior Center meals on Wheels, or the animal advocacy agency of your choice would be appreciated.
