Americo Joseph (Skee) Martinelli died peacefully on May 4, 2014 at Nyack Manor Nursing Home in Valley Cottage. Born March 11, 1925 in Yonkers, he was the son of the late Leoferra and Elissa (D'Arco) Martinelli. Skee married Jean Chioffi on September 12, 1948. She survives at home in Valley Cottage. He is also survived by his daughter, Joanne Ambrosini of Poughquag; his daughter Diana and her husband Martin St. John of Valley Cottage; his granddaughter, Dana Brown; his grandson Michael St. John and his wife, Devon; his grandson Robert Ambrosini and his wife, Anne and his grandson David St. John and his wife, Lisa. He was the great grandfather of Mia, Richard and Sonia Brown; Annabella and Abigail St. John and Dani St. John. He is also survived by his sister Elissa (Lee) Corbo and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Pearl Landi, Olga Romano and Mifi Castelli. Skee graduated from Saunders High School in Yonkers and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-45. He worked for the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. for forty years before retiring to Pompano Beach, FL. Skee touched many lives by his kindness, warmth and caring. He was beloved by his family, his friends, his colleagues and the many acquaintances he made during his life. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc. 601 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers on Wednesday from 3 to 8 PM. Funeral Mass Thursday 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, Yonkers. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Avenue, Suite 1802 New York, New York 10001.
