James Lola King, Jr. was born on September 9, 1944 in Hendersonville, NC to Lilly Peak King and James King. The King family relocated to Yonkers, NY in 1953 where James attended Yonkers Public Schools and graduated from Yonkers High School in 1964. He married Sandra Johnson in 1965 and of this union two children, Yvette and James King, III were born. Affectionately known as "JK", James worked as an Electrician at the Phelps Dodge Cable Company for 20 years. He then went on to work as the Supervisor of Maintenance at the Richmond Children's Center until his retirement 1999. James was a man of many talents; his singing and storytelling abilities kept family and friends alike entertained for hours on end. A self-taught artist, James passion for nature was evident in the many detailed sketches that he often created from his childhood memories. Other samples of his work were enjoyed and could often be found on display at many lo-cal businesses and popular nightspots throughout Westchester County as well as in the homes of family and friends. James was predeceased by his sister Bernice, father James, Sr., mother Lilly and his wife Sandra King. He is survived by his children Yvette and James King III, of Yonkers. A granddaughter Bria King of Macon GA, six sisters; Annette, Amelia (Arthur), Lilly "Punch", Susie (Robert), Ola and Nikita, two brothers; Clyde "Bud" and Henry "T.J." Jones of Yonkers, sister-in-law; Brenda Johnson, brother-in-law; Ronald (Betty), Stephen "Pete" (Wanda) John-son, three Aunts; Ruth, Eunice and Marlene, his Beloved Companion Marcie Armstrong and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
