Nicholas Casamassa a lifetime resident of Yonkers. He died peacefully on June 5, 2014. He was 98.Mr. Casamassa was born October 18, 1915 in the Bronx, to Cesar and Anna (Ruf) Casamassa. He was educated in Yonkers Public Schools. On November 28, 1943 he married Connie DeRosa at our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ardsley, N.Y. Mr. "C" was a Yonkers Firefighter until his retirement in 1978. After retiring he was Yonkers Crossing Guard he was one of the original people hired in Yonkers as a Crossing Guard. Mr. "C" was an avid bowler, bowling with both the Police and Firemen Leagues. He belonged to the Bajart American Post and was a member of the New York State retired Fireman's Association He is survived by his two daughters: Anne (Mimi) Casamassa of Yonkers and Maria Hadala of Yonkers. He was predeceased by his wife of 61years Connie, a brother Cesar Casamassa and one sister Emily Bolton. Calling Hours are at The Sinatra Memorial Home 601 Yonkers Avenue on Sunday from 4-8pm. Service at the Funeral Home Monday 10:00am Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. Friends may send donations to the Salvation Army in his memory.
