Barbara A. (D’Angelo) Horton, 78, of Briarcliff Manor, NY and Ridgefield, CT died on November 13, 2014 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Barbara was born on August 26, 1936 in the Bronx to Dominic and Anne (Solicito) D’Angelo. She grew up in Mount Vernon NY and lived there with her family until moving away in 2011.
She is survived by her husband Watt of 49 years, daughters Barbara-Ann (Nelson) Dos Santos of Briarcliff Manor, NY and Ann-Margaret (Ernie) Archer of Ridgefield, CT, sisters Jackie (Jerry) and Violet (Sam) and her six beloved grandchildren, Cody, Sage, Gabbie, Joey, Matthew and Lily. She is also survived by her much loved nieces and nephews and cousins. She has also left behind the many friends old and new she has made over the years.
She was predeceased by her father, her mother, Anne and her sisters Diane and Dawn.
Barbara graduated from A.B. Davis High School where she was a member of the Rifle Club and went on to be an administrative assistant until she was married. After her children were old enough Barbara went back to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. She then went on to study law at Pace University School of Law and graduated in one of the first graduating classes of the university.
She passed the bar exam and was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York that same year.
Barbara worked as a family lawyer for New Rochelle family court and then for Chase Bank as a real estate attorney.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with her family and was an active member of the Catholic Church. She was a member of Saint Ursula’s Parish in Mount Vernon, NY, Saint Mary’s Parish in Ridgefield, CT and a proud member of the Legion of Mary at Our Lady of Grace Church in Bantam, CT.
Barbara also loved spending time at the Hemlock Hill Camp Resort in Litchfield, CT. She and Watt had many wonderful and supportive friends there who she looked forward to seeing every weekend. She always looked forward to the spring.
Her unfailing kindness, selflessness and love touched everyone she met and her light will be missed greatly. Until we meet again.
