Dear Aunt Dot,
I didn't attend your funeral because I knew what you would say; "Don't waste your money!" I do not consider it a waste, but honored your feelings anyway.
I cannot believe that you are gone. I miss you terribly already.
Please give everyone a hug and a kiss for me. When it is my time
I will be with you again.
I hope that I can be even just a bit like you. You are a very classy lady and an incredible soul. But rest first before you start organizing things up there.
Your favorite second youngest niece,
Kathi

Long before Thelma & Louise, ( of movie fame), there was Dorothea & Adele. They drove to Virginia for holidays and family events....with Dot doing the driving and Mother as the navigator. Now, that was a trip!
There were weekly lunches at a "nice restaurant", preceded by a Dewers and a Jack Daniels at Mother's house. Each had her own chair....a routine! Shortly after Mother died, Dot came over to the house before our lunch , sat in Mother's chair and directed me to hers. Again, Dewers, and in my case...not telling! Then, out to lunch to solve the world's problems once again.
Aunt Dot was there to watch my children grow and to be a cherished friend to my Mother and to all the members of my family. She was, with Mother, another shoulder to lean on....now, I have lost them both. I will miss her sage advice and her friendship.
Don't know if there are road trips in Heaven but I'm sure that the luncheon scene has brightened up with two elegantly dressed ladies!
Go in peace Aunt Dot..

As one of the many adopted nieces, I will miss Aunt Dot terribly. At almost 94, she really lived a great life. With only the last couple years with some ailments, her mind was sharp as a tack at every moment - I don't know how she remembered half of the things she did!
RIP, Aunt Dot. We will all be drinking Dewars in your honor! I hope you're enjoying Dewars and Jack Daniels with Mamadele right now!
Love,
Your other favorite niece

I was talking to Jase and when he mentioned that you said you were ready, I got this mental picture of all the activity in heaven getting ready for you. Everyone was scurrying around dusting and vacuuming and making sure that everything was immaculate (I know, terrible pun).
Say "Hi" to everyone and tell George that I love him. We'll miss you...the family has lost its core. But now it's your turn to relax and enjoy! Rest in Peace.
Love, Rosemary

Aunt Dot-Yes Vinny, broke the gazing ball outside your house chasing me many years ago. I had nothing to do with it and was sworn to secrecy by Vinny. I felt so bad about it and eventually confessed to my Dad. He then made us write apology letters to you. So sorry!
You are only gone 2 days and I keep thinking of things I want to tell you or show you. I miss you. I love you. I admire you and I want to be just like you at 93! Your favorite youngest niece.....Marion

RIP Aunt Dot. You've earned it. Love Vinny, Mary Beth and Family.
PS. That was me who broke your gazing ball all those years ago. I also ripped the lining in the coffin I was hiding in to scare my cousins. Thought I'd better fess up but bet you already knew.
Love,
Vinny
