John Tergis, 91, of Riverdale NY, died on Saturday, February 28th, 2015. He was the son of Christos and Sophia (Vouzoukas) Tergis, born on August 22, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio. John is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dolly (Karanikolis) Tergis, sons (and daughter in laws) Dorian Tergis (Barbara Gudis) and Alexander Tergis (Claudia Staeffler), and grandchildren Andrew, Christine, Sascha and Maria. He served in the Army, with the Army Corp of Engineers, in Germany and France during WWII, after which he studied Fine Art and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University in 1950. He retired as Art Director from Lever Brother Company in NYC, after a long successful career. He was an accomplished artist whose paintings sold in art galleries in lower Manhattan. He loved skin diving and spear fishing in the waters off Port Jefferson, Long Island and East Dennis, Massachusetts. His loving personality, sense of humor, personalized cartoons and caricatures will be missed by all. A Memorial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 5th, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm at Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc. with a Funeral Service at 7pm.
